Job Overview for Valley Steel Recycling

The Loader Operator is a key member of the production team, working to ensure that all goals are met safely and efficiently while adhering to company policies. The role primarily involves Front Loader operation and various material handling duties, as well as processing vehicles in a manner that yields core and scrap products, aids customers in part retrieval, and meets environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Performance & Best Business Practices:

• Operation of heavy machinery (On this occasion, a forklift is NOT considered heavy machinery.) SUCH AS a Front Loader, Crusher, Fork Lift, or Skid Steer to move vehicles, cores, scrap, and other materials safely around the yard. Ensuring that all loads are securely positioned and placed.

Equipment & Maintenance:

• Routine maintenance of a Front Loader, or Skid Steer: Performing pre-operation checks and other prescribed inspections/cleanings from the Certification course.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in operating heavy equipment.
• Hands-on experience with tools and machinery.
• Bilingual proficiency in English & Spanish is desired.

Physical Requirements:

• Regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, and stretching in outdoor weather conditions for extended periods during shifts.
• Ability to sit for 6-8 hours per day in 2-3 hour intervals.
• Manual dexterity for handling tools and the ability to move 50 pounds regularly to perform routine functions.
• Good hand-eye coordination and motor skills sufficient to safely operate fork lift equipment in an active work area.
• Regular and peripheral vision sufficient to safely operate forklift equipment in an active work area.
• Sufficient hearing to safely operate fork lift equipment in an active work area.

Job Conditions:

• Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Periodic exposure to minimal chemical hazards.
